Certified Learner Program

SOI Certified Learning is a classroom program that has proven to be very successful. Children thrive socially as well as academically. The program develops a culture of acceptance and helpfulness among students that leads to healthy self-esteem. Teachers frequently comment on the enthusiasm for learning and the harmony in Certified Learner classrooms.

Overview

SOI Certified Learning is a classroom instructional system with five integrated elements. These elements are based on the principles of Total Quality Management – continuous measurement of performance, early detection of performance failures, systematic procedures to quickly eliminate the failures detected, documentation of all aspects of the operation (measurement, failure detection, failure remediation, and resultant performance), and evaluation of overall system performance.

1. Curriculum Design. The curriculum (K-2) is based on the standards of the Common Core Objectives provide the system goals and the units within the curriculum provide the measurable points of performance.

2. Scheduling and Tracking System. Provides classroom scheduling of daily instruction and tracks student progress on a daily basis including the detection of any learning failures that occur.

3. Consultant System. Assists classroom teachers with diagnoses and interventions for learning problems revealed by the tracking system.

4. Reporting System. Provides reports of classroom and individual student progress on a weekly basis; presents the consultant system with all current learning problems in the Certified classrooms; documents consultant interventions and their outcomes.

5. Evaluation System. Provides performance criteria for all involved – student performance, teacher performance, consultant performance, and system performance. The criteria used are integral to the system – does the curriculum achieve the objectives; does the tracking system detect learning problems accurately and efficiently; does the consultant system provide the proper interventions; and does the reporting system provide adequate and timely information for system improvement.
